PR contact: warren.morris@theplayground.co.uk --------------------------------------------- :PAPERCUTZ is an electronic pop music act lead by Portugal-based composer Bruno Miguel and featuring guest musicians. After appearances on various international compilations they signed their debut album 'Lylac' to Montreal’s Apegenine Recordings whose roster featured David Kristian, Khonnor and Julien Neto. Their advance single E.P. 'Ultravioleta rmx's' came out in 2008 and included remixes by Neotropic (Ninja Tune), The Sight Below (Ghostly International), Spandex (Sleep Debt, Hand on the Plow) and Signer (Carpark Records). The full length album followed shortly and was released end of the same year, getting featured in various publications with UK's Record Collector mag comparing Bruno's precision work to that of Four Tet and showcased by BBC introducing and MySpace's best music. The band spent the next two years touring and signed their conceptual remix album 'Do Outro lado Do Espelho (Lylac ambient reworks)' to Sheffield's Audiobulb Records. It included a new original track 'Encantamento' and remixes spawned out of 'Lylac''s line up with Drowned in Sound calling the album "notably coherent and engaging unlike other remix records" and featuring noteworthy ambient music artists such as Taylor Deupree, Keith Kenniff or cult band Slowdive member Simon Scott, among many others invited by Bruno to work on his music. Shedding skins from their debut bedroom electronica, Bruno was the one invited to remix Lucrecia Dalt for the special edition of her album 'Commotus' and Nite Jewel' s Heart Shaped Rock newly formed project, both released on Berlin's Human Ear Music as well as emerging acts Abadabad (Chill Mega Chill) named one of NME’s Top 100 New Bands for 2012, rising project Sun Glitters (Mush Records) and Courtship from music journalist and musician friend Patric Fallon with the likes of Fader Magazine, XLR8R, Impose, Discosalt claiming a rich dreamy sound. He also took the risky plunge of covering The Cure's 'Disintegration', a soundtrack to many of our youth days, only to find the strongest recognition on their spin, from known radio broadcaster and writer Alan Cross as far out as fashion publications such as Refinery29. They finished their sophomore album 'The Blur Between Us' in NYC with producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio) which featured a darker and edgier sound, melting Bruno's European electronic and minimal classic music tradition and Chris NY's indie background and released it by end of 2012 (Rastilho Records / Sounds Of A Playground). In 2013, Bruno was selected to take part of the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy, a recognition of his ambitious producer work which takes him back to NYC for live shows and studio time with tutors Four Tet and Flying Lotus. He also becomes part off artist entity 'Enchufada' (of Buraka Som Sistema fame) by releasing his single 'Storm Spirits' and returns to some new remixing duties by producing a rearranged version for Christian Berishaj, better known as JMSN, single Walk Away (White Room Records) and M83's Morgan Grace Kibby who goes by White Sea, latest 'Prague' (Crush Music) 'The Blur Between Us' album was re-released as a special edition in Japan through Tokyo’s Kilk records and indie store More Records made it "Album Of the Month", getting support in 2014 by influential magazines like Fudge and airplay from Kiss FM KOBE or FM NORTH WAVE, a first for one of Kilk's foreign acts. The band is currently touring after showcases at Eurosonic and SXSW and preparing a release of their new album “King Ruiner”.
