For the first time in the history of Reeperbahn Festival, one of the most relevant European music industry gatherings and showcase festivals, the focus country of the year will be presented both digitally and on site.
Music Export Denmark faced an unforeseen situation mid-preparations for the big focus country title for this year's Reeperbahn Festival. Regardless of having COVID-19 disrupt exporting plans, they have respectfully decided that the show must go on. After careful replanning, they are ready to attend the physical Reeperbahn Festival on 16-19 September 2020. What was meant to be the local music industries' ode to the Danish-German Cultural Friendship Year 2020, is now a smaller-scale execution to keep the rising momentum amongst Danish artists and songwriters going. The Danes will greet you for the first time at Reeperbahn Festival: DOORS OPEN Show.
Perceiving the new digital and on-site edition of Reeperbahn Festival as a unique opportunity, Denmark is elating the delegates by bringing a few of their most succeeding export-aiming acts to Hamburg, Germany. The list consists of names you might already know: Baby In Vain, Be Svendsen, Calby, Drew Sycamore, Nicklas Sahl and Tina Dico.
If you have any questions, wish to interview Music Export Denmark for the craziest focus country experience yet, or want to request live sessions or interviews with the Danish acts, we'll gladly coordinate it for you. Please reach out to Ida: saellinen@factory92.eu

Be Svendsen | Avant-garde techno
Sat 19 Sep, 21:30 @ Spielbude XL
A borrower, an inventor and an art-chemist. He plays first from the soul. He is a warm outsider in a psychedelic bowler-hat. His music, an audial rendition of the memories of his own shamanic vision quest. Your ears are to be led by a naive melody up some curious audio-ornamental highway. Your expectations as listener, deliberately, mindfully overthrown.

Calby | Pop/Soul
Thu 17 Sep, 15:15 @ N-JOY Reeperbus / Spielbudenplatz
Thu 17 Sep, 18:00 @ Knust / Lattenplatz
Thu 17 Sep, 22:15 @ Resonanzraum
Behind the artist name Calby, which is also a contraction of Copenhagen and Valby, stands Mik Thybo, who is a singer, songwriter and producer. His songs and universe move in the intersection of soul, pop and indie rock and possess a timelessness that makes it difficult to define whether the music is created today or in a different decade.

Danish/Welsh singer, composer and guitarist Drew Sycamore achieved last year, among other things, two top 10 hits, the release of the critically acclaimed debut album "Brutal" and hit more than 6 million streams in Denmark. Her single “Perfect Disaster” has been on the Danish airplay chart for more than a year. The latest single “Take It Back” just peaked this week as #2 on the airplay chart in Denmark, and supported by a video. Drew is at the moment recording her forthcoming album “Sycamore”.

Nicklas Sahl | Pop
Thu 17 Sep, 15:30 @ Spielbude XL
Fri 18 Sep, 19:30 @ St. Pauli-Kirche
His position as one of the most striking new artists is set in stone: Nicklas Sahl, aged 23, is the second most played Danish artist on Danish radio in 2019, has more than 40 million streams on Spotify and has already numerous awards and nominations under his belt. Right in the middle of the powerful tailwind stands a calm boy from the suburbs who dreams of telling stories from the hotspots of life. The debut album "Unsolvable" combines contributions from the GRAMMY-winning producer and songwriter Josh Kerr, the GRAMMY-nominated Sam Ashworth, Danish Birk Storm and Icelandic Helgi Jónsson.

Tina Dico | Singer-songwriter
Wed 16 Sep, 21:45 @ Stage Operettenhaus
Tina Dico formed her own label Finest Gramophone in 2000, unhappy at the direction interested parties wanted to take her music. The move paid off in Denmark – her second album made the top 40, and her third went straight to number one in 2005, with the singer consequently winning Danish radio station P3’s prestigious P3 Award, and the Danish Singer of The Year Award in 2006. She’s never had an album debut outside the Danish top five since. Next February Tina will be performing a unique concert with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg in Potsdam; a night transforming some of her works into full orchestral arrangements.
