They go by the name PEKKO KÄPPI & K:H:H:L (Bones of the Dead Crazy Horses). Pekko Käppi plays the ancient Finnish instrument jouhikko, a bowed lyre, and is well-versed in the Finnish runo-singing tradition. Their music deals with love, death, Finnish voodoo and archaic grooves. Their minimalistic and straight forward sound has a distinct flavor of pop, layered with colliding rhythms and psychedelic sights. Traditional lyrics and harshly joyous jouhikko playing butt heads with drones and distortions from the past and future. Their international appearances have included WOMEX , Roadburn Festival (NL), EtnoPotrt (PL), Finskaja Tusovka (RU), LIFEM (UK) and Tuska festival (FI). Their albums have received awards like Folk Music Album Of The Year 2010 and The Best Folk Player 2017 in Finland.

Lxandra is a Berlin-based 20-year-old singer-songwriter from a small Finnish island called Suomenlinna. Lxandra has been around as a song-writer (writing for others) for a while but 2017 marks her debut year as a feature artist. Lxandra's current single "Hush Hush Baby" was born when Lxandra recently returned to her childhood home for her mother's birthday and decided to write a song as a birthday present. With no studio access, and limited time, Lxandra recorded a one-take demo of “Hush Hush Baby”, which was so emotionally strong that she immediately took it to the studio and released it. In November 2017 Saturn (one of Germany's leading electronics and entertainment retailers) picked up the track to headline a Christmas advertisement campaign (link), underlining the potential of this brand new artist. More singles will be released over the course of next year accompanied by several live shows and ultimately leading up to the release of her debut in 2018.

Having joined the Anjunadeep ranks last year via the label’s Explorations EP series, Finland’s Tontario has gone on to deliver a string of well received releases, including a stunning rework of Ólafur Arnalds’s ‘Öldurót’, appearances on both of the Anjunadeep 08 and 09 compilations, not to mention his soothing ‘Solitude EP‘. Ending the year strongly, Tontario now returns to the label with another set of adventurous downtempo cuts on the four track ‘From Below EP’. Inspired by the captivating yet vulnerable beauty of the Scandinavian nature, Tontario is a big fan of ambient soundscapes, crispy textures and wide range of foley sounds. Tontario’s emotional and ever so cinematic mix of house, techno and ambient takes you on a journey like no other.
